| The album was recorded and mixed over a two year period in the studio, but many of the songs were born long before that. Most had been road tested at live gigs, evolving in form, and just waiting for the opportunity to reach a recording studio. Original material comprise ten of the eleven tracks. The original songs were written by Mark Tuttle (Down Low, Too Much Beer, Hardtime Blues) and John Freel (I Play the Blues, Steppin' Stone, No Destination, Vertigo). Three of the ten were written collaboratively (Highway 99, Bartender, Money's Gone). "Out of the Blues" was recorded and engineered by Sean McKeon at Crown Recording Studios in Turlock, California. Sean was instrumental in working with the band to develop backing vocals, and the sound quality found in the final product. Sean also pushed the band to give their best performance during the recording sessions. The CD was mastered and duplicated at Disc Makers. The photography is credited to Gail Benedict and John Freel. Album artwork by Johnny Divot. Cool airplanes by The Castle Air Museum in Atwater, California. Patience during the production of this album by Carla, Gail, and Sandy. Inspiration by proxy. |
